Petition to get SpongeBob to the Super Bowl reaches one million signatures

A bit of context:  In the seminal SpongeBob SquarePants episode 'Band Geeks", the gang were tasked with composing a song to perform at the Bubble Bowl, an underwater event not unlike the Super Bowl.

It went excellently.

Then late last year, SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg tragically died at the age of 57.

So by way of a tribute, someone started a petition to have 'Sweet Victory' played at this year's Super Bowl half time show. At the time of writing there have been 1,184,466 signatories for this very cool and very lovely idea.

In other news (though depending on your perspective this could just as easily have been the headline) Jeff Bridges has reprised his role as The Dude (of The Big Lebowski fame) for a Stella Artois Super Bowl ad alongside Sarah Jessica Parker.

Still blows my mind that in every country bar the UK Stella is pitched as a beer of sophistication as opposed to a beer of fighting. Wild.

Mind is also blown, every year, by how little of the noise around the Super Bowl has anything to do with the 'football'.  Is this because it's shite?  Discuss.
