Couple outraged after being banned from buying meat pies from Morrisons before 9am
Shit really hit the fan last week when two pensioners from Middlesborough claimed that weren’t allowed to buy meat pies before 9am at their local Morrison’s.
Meat pie-loving pair Linda and Tony Gilkes were horrified that they could clearly see that all the pies were made but because it was 8:45am they weren’t allowed to buy them as the shop only starts selling them at 9am. Here’s what Linda had to say about it all:
I could see bags and bags of pies, all wrapped up on cages behind the counter. The trolley was ready to be pushed out.But when I asked for the pies, I was told: “We can’t sell the pies until 9am." I could have had a fruit pie, but not a meat pie.If they hadn’t been cooked, that would make sense, but the fact that they were baked, well – it’s ridiculous. If I could’ve reached over, I would have grabbed them myself.They are dictating to me when I can buy pies and when I can shop.I wasn’t waiting 20 minutes so I went to Cooplands. I was disappointed to say the least.
I'm with you Linda. How dare those big bad conglomorates keep you from filling your face with a delicious meat pie. I reckon she just didn't want the pastry going all floppy and steaming in it's own bag, which is fair enough. No one like a soggy base!
Morrisons have since admitted that they were in the wrong and have decided to start selling meat pies from 7am now. Woohoo Linda, your efforts have not been in vain. I only hope she won't suffer any flashbacks from horrific ordeal she has suffered.
