Dude left furious after Instagram took his handle & gave it to Harry & Meghan
I’m not really big on the monarchy personally. I’m not fussed enough to go spitting venom on social media or anything like that but I just don’t want to watch their smug inbred faces on TV.
Until now I was pretty ‘meh’ about the royal family but after hearing the story about a dude who had his Instagram handle taken off him so it could be given to Harry & Meghan, I’m proper livid. Kevin Keiley had been using @sussexroyal for three years until the royal couple decided they fancied having a joint Instagram account. Don’t even get me started on couples who share social media accounts.
Anyhoo, Driving instructor Kevin originally chose the name because he supports Reading FC AKA the Royals, and he lives in West Sussex, so it’s the ideal handle for him. But those cheeky fuckers at Instagram changed his handle and gave it to the royals without as much as a “do you mind?”
When asked why his handle was changed, Instagram said it was because the account was inactive, but Kevin says it’s bollocks because he used the account to Like posts and follow other people’s accounts. Kevin said he found out about the change from his son:
I got a jokey text from my son which said ‘Ha ha, I see your handle has gone then’.
I thought ‘What’s that all about?’ He said ‘Look on Instagram’ so I looked on Instagram and suddenly my handle wasn’t @sussexroyal anymore it was @_sussexroyal_It had been taken.
Kevin claims that no-one from the Royal Family or Instagram asked him to give up his handle which is probably why he’s so miffed. I mean yeah, I know people will be saying ‘well he’s only a driving instructor with 12 followers’ but It’s not really the point is it. It just an absolute piss-take for a company to steal something you created because some rich people want it for themselves. I reckon if Kevin was asked, he probably would’ve just handed it over anyway.
All that wealth and those fuckers can’t even muster up a ‘please’. Kevin is now concerned that they’ll come for his Twitter handle next, which is also @sussexroyal. I bloody hope they don’t, because look at the amazing content he posts:
What I’m trying to do is keep tweeting therefore they can’t take it if it’s active. I don’t know what the royals are planning down the line.
When asked what he would say to Harry & Meghan if he could talk to them face to face here’s what Kevin said:
Hello Harry and Meghan. If you do want my Twitter account as well can you at least have the decency to speak to me?
Pretty fair really. They could have at least offered him a few quid. It’s the taxpayers money anyway!
