Wetherspoons is opening up a museum & hotel in Wolverhampton
If you're ever passing through Wolverhampton, you might want to make a quick pit stop as Wetherspoons have just announced thar they'll be opening a museum. I wonder what they'll have in there?! fag ends stuck to the floor? watered-down vodka and a beer-bellied chav serving you?!
I'm not anti Wetherspoons or anything. for some cheap British grub you can't go wrong with a spoons fry up or burger, but a museum might be taking it a bit a far, but as the chain now has over 900 pubs in the UK, they'd be silly not to make the most of it.
The pub thinks it's time to celebrate their legacy by opening up a museum as well as a 70-person hotel above The Moon Under Water pub in Wolverhampton which will also create 50 jobs in the area and hopefully attract Wetherspoons tourists to the area as well. Here's what Wetherspoons spokesman Eddie Gershon had to say about it all:
We have great plans for the popular The Moon Under Water pub. We believe this will be great for the pub, its customers and just as importantly the city itself.
We feel the museum will prove popular with people who want to know more of the history of the company and see artefacts from the past.The fact that Wetherspoons wishes to house it in Wolverhampton is positive for the city.
I mean it's not for me, but hey, I'm probably not their demographic. i reckon sharon, Alan and their 5 kids would love a weekend break at the Spoons hotels and museum. At least you'll know the portion sizes will be decent!
