Tom & Jerry live-action movie begins production this summer!
When I think of my childhood, I think about the countless hours I spent in front of the TV watching Tom & Jerry - That sodding mouse always outsmarting poor Tom! I always thought Jerry was a bit of an antagonising twat and secretly hoped Tom would catch him but that probably says more about what a sinister kid I was. Anyhoo, the classic American comedy cartoon was originally created in the 1940's and after nearly 80 years later, is being adapted into a live-action film.
Filming for Tom & Jerry is set to begin this summer in the UK, with Tim Story, director of the Ride Along franchise, in negotiations to direct the film. It is reported that when Warner Bros. first mentioned the possibility of rebooting the cartoon, Tim immediately mentioned his admiration for the characters and how he would love to work on the project.
Variety magazine said that the plan for the film is to shoot in the real world, with animated versions of the characters to be added in later. I’m just seriously hoping that the pair remain silent and they don’t get some cheesy-ass celeb like The Rock or Kevin Hart to voice the characters. They’d be crazy not to stick to the original formula, after all, it’s more about the physical comedy anyway. I’m proper pumped for this!
