Making A Murderer Part 2 gets Official Release Date!
A few years back the name Steven Avery was on everyone's lips but fast forward a few years and he seems to have been forgotten about. But that is all set to change as the hit Netflix show Making A Murderer is coming back for a second instalment.
Making A Murderer was the highlight of my evenings when it first came out. I'd sit there binge watching it while eating Pringles and coming up with my own theories about just who really murdered Theresa Halbach.
After the success of the first show, film makers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos continued to keep a close eye on Brendan Dassey and Steven Avery but there was no indication of whether a follow up show was on the cards. After all, it took an entire decade to film the first documentary so clearly, these things can't be rushed. But a lot must've happened over the past 3 years as the pair have managed to finish it off and Netflix have just announced that the second series will premiere on October 19th.
The new documentary will focus on Avery’s post-conviction lawyer Kathleen Zellner and Dassey’s legal team, Laura Nirider and Steve Drizin. Here’s the official line from the film makers:
Steven and Brendan, their families and their legal and investigative teams have once again graciously granted us access, giving us a window into the complex web of American criminal justice,Building on Part 1, which documented the experience of the accused, in Part 2, we have chronicled the experience of the convicted and imprisoned, two men each serving life sentences for crimes they maintain they did not commit. We are thrilled to be able to share this new phase of the journey with viewers.
I think thrilled might be the wrong word to use considering 2 dudes are still in prison, but I'm still hella excited to see part 2. Roll on October 19th! I wonder if we’ll ever get to find out what happened to Theresa Halbach?!
