Down with this sort of thing

The first of no doubt many England World Cup songs has arrived!

We've already established that there won't be an official England song this summer, but that's not to say we're out of the woods, not by any means.  If anything, the lack of an FA-backed focal point just means the swathes of unaffiliated acts will be receiving even more attention.

First out of the traps are punk supergroup The Tallywags with their song Charge of the Light Brigade. The band is made up of former Sex Pistols and Professionals drummer Paul Cook, Tom Spencer from The Professionals and The Men They Couldn’t Hang and Chris McCormack from The Professionals and Three Colours Red.

Hmm, that kind of just sounds like The Professionals are using an alias to avoid embarrassment.

They needn't have worried.  The song's surprisingly decent.  Plenty catchy enough and the football references don't feel too forced either.  Always a danger, that.

Have a listen.
