Peaky Blinders to end after season 7
The writer and creator of Peaky Blinders has just revealed that the show will end in after three more seasons.
Writer Stephen Knight confirmed during his appearance at the BAFTA TV Awards that the show has been renewed for two more seasons after the upcoming series 5. Stephen said:
My ambition is to make it a story of a family between two wars. I’ve always wanted to end it with the first air raid siren in Birmingham in 1939. It’ll take three more series to reach that point.
Peaky Blinders has been a ratings hit since it first hit our screens in 2013 and that will hopefully continue right up until the end of season 7. When asked if Cillian Murphy would be happy to carry on the role of Tommy Shelby for that many seasons, Cillian said this:
Listen, you know Steve has so many ideas. He’s so inventive, I wouldn’t be surprised. For me, I’ve always said as long as the writing stays as good as it is, I’m around.
There have also been talks of a Peaky Blinders movie but that's not a done-deal as of yet. However, there is a musical on the way. While Cillian says he's up for doing a movie, he says he'll pass on the musical. Yeah, I can't see Cillian throwing up jazz-hands somehow.
