There won't be an official England World Cup song this year. Bring back Ben Dover!
The FA announced earlier today that there are no plans to release an official anthem for Russia 2018.
As much as the news feels like an affront to tradition and all that's sacred in the world, it is worth bearing in mind that there's not been a halfway listenable England song released for about twenty years. Ian McCulloch and the Spice Girls, Ant & Dec, James Corden and Dizzie Rascal; we're looking at you.
Maybe it's time the whole concept was put out of its misery?
Or maybe it's time Ben Dover answered the call and got the band back together?
England expects an underwhelming second round exit! England expects this disappointment to be soundtracked by an uplifting dance number with a pornographic video!
