The new McLaren 570S Spider looks pretty decent then...

Thanks to our old friend the McLaren Carbon Fiber Tub, the roof on the coupe version of this car isn't actually required to strengthen its frame.  All it's doing is keeping you dry. 

So when they decided to lop it off for the Spider, there was no need to add a load of weight lower down in order to keep things rigid.

With just 46kg of extra bulk the end result is a soft-top (always cooler) without any of the traditional downsides such as loss of performance or handling reminiscent of a milk float.

Looks freakin' incredible too!  What's not to love?
