Atari just announced their first new console in 24 years!

Here's hoping it fares better than that disastrous effort, the 1993 Atari Jaguar, which pretty much wiped the company out.

They should be ok. Rather than try and muscle in on the Playstation/xbox action, the Ataribox looks to be aimed squarely at the retro market and therefore represents a far less expensive gamble. Inspired by the classic 2600 console, it'll most likely come pre-loaded with some old favourites in addition to its more modern SD card and USB ports.
