Though in much the same way that Liverpool need to go and spunk a load of cash on a big name just so Andy Carroll's no longer their record signing, someone needs to buy a left-back this summer for more money than Man Utd paid for Luke Shaw. It's not that he hasn't got potential, but right now he's letting this particular side down.

You'd have to say that Virgil van Dijk for about £60m would represent an upgrade on John Stones too, and if he joined the Scousers they'd be killing two birds with one stone. Ideal.
